Glenn Myernick Service to Soccer Award

In 2009, the Soccer Champions Coaches' Clinic created the Glenn Myernick Service to Soccer Award. This annual award honors Glenn ÒMoochÓ Myernick who was one of American soccer's most beloved, influential and dedicated coaches. Mooch's soccer resume is impeccable, he was a U.S. National Team Coach, a U.S. Olympic Team Coach, an MLS Coach with the Colorado Rapids, a U.S. National Team player, starred in the NASL, and was the named the country's top collegiate player while a player at Hartwick College earning the prestigious Hermann Trophy Award. When Glenn passed away in 2006, America lost one of its greatest soccer resources. He also was a good friend of the Soccer Champions Coaches' Clinic -- he presented multiple times at our event, traveling from around the world to honor his commitment to us.

We honor and salute Mooch's dedication and commitment to the game with the presentation of this award annually at the Soccer Champions Coaches' Clinic at Mohegan Sun.

2009 Recipient - Charlotte Moran

Inaugural Glenn Myernick Service to Soccer Award winner Charlotte Moran flanked by (left to right) Ray Reid, Jeff Tipping, Timo Liekoski, Ralph Perez, Tracy Leone and Tony DiCicco.
Charlotte Moran worked tirelessly in many capacities to grow the game of soccer in America and it seems perfectly appropriate that she receive the first Glenn Myernick Service to Soccer Award. Charlotte served as the Executive Director of the Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association and was the Region One Girls' Olympic Development Program Administrator. Before that, for more than seven years, she served as EPYSA's State President. Beginning in 1979, Charlotte dedicated herself to the game she loved, working to grow it in America in many ways, ranging from her service as U.S. Youth Soccer's National ODP Girls' Chair, Past Chairperson of the NSCAA's Diversity Committee, Chairperson of U.S. Soccer's Women's Committee and was a member of U.S. Soccer's local organizing committee for the 2003 Women's World Cup/Philadelphia Venue. Charlotte's vision, determination and commitment have been an inspiration to us all.

The American soccer community will miss Charlotte who passed away on May 18, 2009.
